However, I don't think I'd want it on, in our circumstances, as we only have one router (a VM Superhub, like yours, in our hall), which supplies both of our V6 Tivo boxes (one in the lounge and one in the bedroom), and the hard-drives for my streaming setup. The latter are inches away from each other, on the same shelf as the router.

Why would you need a separate router in your listening room?

    Just curious!

    Marco.
    Seperate Router in listening room?
    Few reasons.

Wireless aint good in my place and wanted to place it where it was needed.
Could run a wireless repeater, sure, but its extra boxes and im trying to keep network as clean and simple as possible.

Most of my kit is internet enabled, so wanted to run key components by ethernet rather than wifi.
Placing it in the system rack allows it to be powered by a linear psu fed from the balanced mains unit, so removes noisy switching power supply.

Oh, and got this one for the aesthetics, It looks very cool sitting under the Dac.

    Half Life head crab...?
    Bonnet of a red Alfa?
    Stargate Egyptian ship?

    whatever...
    Like the design of it.

Totally understood, Gaz, and I love that router! Where did you get it from, mate?

However... You realise that in putting it there, you've succeeded in placing a major source of RFI, right next to your system, and furthermore by connecting it to the mains supply directly feeding your system, polluting that supply (with noise), potentially to your system's sonic detriment... Just sayin'!

So maybe something to consider, if that is, there is another viable option?

In my case, all the 'dirty shit' (capable of spraying out RFI), required to facilitate my Internet usage and music/film streaming, including the Virgin Superhub, is located in the hallway, well away from my kit, and all powered by a dedicated and fully regulated linear PSU (which Duncan built me), to prevent the injection of 'switching noise' into the mains supply, generated by equipment fitted with SMPS.

Everything operates with no glitches, wirelessly, save The Raspberry Pi (which has its own linear PSU) and is hardwired to the router in the hall, via one of your excellent (recommended) ethernet cables, thus isolating the 'dirty shit' from all my AV and hi-fi gear. Dunno if you could do something similar?

    Marco.

Hear what your saying mate, and I thought about that when plumbing it all in.
    Its ok.
All the network kit is powered by linear supplies and I compared the sound between having it there and in the other room.

Didn't hear any difference so all good.
