They have a single coax feed to the premises, and the service is then distributed to where the boxes (Tivo & router) are.

From what I can see of it, the box looks different from that. The's also no phone socket, as the phone line goes through the router.

That's right - the internal FTTP box also contains the phone line already separated (as pic above)

I was unaware that Virgin actually did FTTP, so I've learned a bit about it today.
I don't think we'll be seeing it around here anytime soon - the infrastructure around the immediate vicinity was installed by Nynex a donkey's age ago, and it works well.
I'm on the FTTC service with a 200Mbps internet provision, not that I have any machines that can work with that fast a connection.

I think we've been one of the beneficiaries of this initiative/project: https://www.citysurveysgroup.co.uk/p...ester-wrexham/

I sometimes download music and movies, and since moving from Sky Fibre, the speed has been massively improved. Also, in terms of page-loading on websites, it's just instantaneous, with no lag or 'hanging', providing that there are no unavoidable issues elsewhere holding things back.

All in, it's been a major upgrade!

Don't look like it - apart from a couple of prestige projects it looks like the rest of us Virgin customers can whistle dixie - viz this article:

"Project Lightning, you say? Virgin Media's fibre rollout is pretty glacial"

Do you mean in terms of FTTP, Mike? As you've already got the 300Mbps service with Virgin.
