When visiting at St. Thomas' hospital in London on Sunday, parking there was much easier, parked right outside the entrance. But when leaving. it cost £6.40 to get off the car park!

Lol... I'm an autumn/winter kinda guy. Love snow, and the beautiful russet colours autumn brings to nature's landscape

Snow's great, if you don't have to be somewhere. Unfortunately, winter for us is mostly just cold, dark, damp and dismal. Spring is far and away my favourite season. Lengthening days, new growth, getting warmer but not hot. If there was a place with perpetual spring, I'd move there.

Yup, and mostly I don't, and if I do, I can plan things in advance to ensure it doesn't become a chore. Therefore, I love watching snowflakes falling gently down outside, and the garden transform into a lovely white winter-wonderland, as I'm tucked up inside, nice and cosy, in front of the log fire, listening to some choons!

Don't worry, I often think about all the daftees stuck in traffic jams for hours, because of the snow, trying to get home during rush hour. I'm considerate that way!

Seriously though, you and I are opposites in that respect. I don't mind the cold, dark days and nights at all, during winter, as I can always find something fun to do, and our little lodge house (especially around Christmas, which we LOVE) lends itself to winter.

Don't get me wrong, I like the spring and summer too, but if I had to choose between sweltering to death in unbearable heat and humidity, for weeks on end, such as was the case here this summer, and being nice and comfy in the winter, sat beside the wood burner, as warm or cold as *I* choose (without that being dictated by the weather), then it's the latter *every* time!!

Very festive, you could stick that on a Christmas card, with a fat bloke in a red suit sticking out of the chimney.

Impressive attention to detail too - either you did a long walk round to keep the lawn footprint-free, or kipped in the gazebo while the snowfall filled in your tracks. I would have been tempted to draw a big penis in the snow for the benefit of passing planes!

According to the wise ones storm Helene should have attacked the west country last night and likely to have blown trees down. Not a bit of it, the roads have some Oak leaves scattered across them and about 10 billion acorns for good measure.

Talking of which, I cannot recall ever seeing so many and such huge acorns as there has been this year. Helene was great timing too as they have just started dropping naturally and the winds have accelerated the process. Took a photo of one branch that was full of big acorns and almost touching the ground and if I can figure out how to post it from my phone I will do.

Yes lets have a look if you can. I'd noticed that the trees seem to have done really well over the hot summer. I've watched an oak sapling double in height.

Neither... I fell over the wall drunk from the pub next door, before it was snowing, then woke up in the summerhouse (situated behind where the picture was taken), and snapped a shot of the scene before me.

Really tipping it down here, tropical storm type rain. Big drops. Just been in the back sounds like people are emptying buckets of water.
