Ah I see what you mean... No, that's the (real) JBL sub - the one I've always had, simply externalised from its original cabinet, and now fitted into its own dedicated enclosure within the boot space.

The sub is recessed, so there's quite a bit of a lip to prevent anything damaging the cone. I'll just use the cover shown in the previous picture to put on top, when the car's not being used, just to keep any debris out

Kenwood head unit now in situ:



Now here's an interesting one... Below is a picture of the original control panel for the factory fitted stereo, and crucially (in terms of what I'm about to highlight), just below that is the switches panel for the heated driver and passenger seats:



In my car, there is also a button in the middle, for defeating the warning buzzer for the parking sensors.

So, now that the original control panel for the stereo has been removed, in order to incorporate the (bigger) Kenwood head unit (as shown in the first picture), Sean also had to remove the switches panel for the heated seats, etc, which was underneath.

Therefore what he's done, is made up a template (of the required dimensions) and constructed a whole new housing for it in MDF, then fitted it into the glove compartment instead, so that it wasn't redundant, and covered it in the same black felt:



Pretty neat, eh? I rarely use those controls anyway, and if Del ever wants to activate the heated seats, she can do so simply by popping open the glove box

Lastly, this is a sample of the black vinyl being used to cover the amp rack and boot space around the subwoofer, which is currently just bare MDF:



Should look good when it's finished!

I believe cornflour mixed with water and poured onto the subwoofer cone can be quite entertaining, but I have a feeling Marco would be reluctant to try that
