Default one for the man cave ? Teleton SAQ-206B

Looks like crap and I don’t have the correct din cable to test it properly so I can only hear it through the right, and the power light doesn’t work which is why I suspect it was sold as not working.
Skip or save ? Owes me a whopping £23.

    Yeah, save it.

That case can be tidied and the internals are not complicated. If you only have output from one channel, it could be down to something as simple as a dirty control.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

As an amplifier it's a nice little one for a starter system. In its day it was often paired with something like a Garrard SP25 and say an Audio Technica AT66 cartridge with some budget bookshelf speakers. I believe the output is 6W/channel, so that will limit the range of speakers with which it can be used.

If it were me, I would refurbish it and find someone who might use and enjoy it. Failing that, give it to a charity shop of your choice. Don't bin it - there's far to much stuff going into landfill as it is.

My father used one in his system, driving Wharfedale RS8/DD drive units in Wharfedale design 1.5 cu ft distributed port enclosures. Didn't sound too bad at all.
