“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Well it's certainly not normal, or is it? Company even apologised that it was delayed. I reckon the parcel just wanted to see a bit of the world.

Just seems crazy. You would expect Amazon to be highly efficient with anything that has a bottom line.

It seems like DHL regularly send parcels weird routes, I suppose it makes sense to them.

The itineraries of these parcels will be optimised by computers and there will be logic in there even if it makes no sense to us.

Yes could be quite complex algorithms finding marginal spaces in roundabout routes that work better (ie. cheaper) than sending everything directly. Of course not good for those that want things to get to their destination as safely as possible with the minimum number of loads/unloads.

Absolutely. It goes without saying that it's during the loading/unloading that the damage occurs. And I doubt the delivery guys pay much attention to 'fragile' stickers on packages. It's down to the sender to make the parcel bombproof.

Although the couriers can be quite heavy handed I do have some sympathy for them. Courier companies work in an extremely competitive market and the drivers are at the sharp end of this with poor pay, often unrealistic deadlines and piss poor working conditions. I would have to be pretty desperate to do their job.
