Default My Croft Micro 25R has grown up!

Well! Having been a loyal Croft customer since 1989 (with a Super Micro II, which is still working perfectly), I thought it was about time I upgraded my Micro 25R to higher spec. So, I sent it over to Glenn and he upgraded it to Micro 25RSLS spec (line stage only). I 'won' an extra box (for the power supply), but I lost the phono stage (Glenn had warned me it would not fit).

So, what are the results? More detail than the Micro 25R (is it possible? yes it is), better separation, more naturalness. Everything sounds even more effortless.

Why am I amazed? I would not have expected anything less from Glenn...! Thank you, Mr. Croft.

Jim, as a matter of fact, for the time being I will be using an ASR Mini Basis Exclusive (solid state, MM+MC), so that I can test my various cartridges, but it seems that I will eventually opt for a Croft RIAA RS. Then next challenge with be the SUTs to accommodate my MC cartridges. My primary cartridge remains the Music Maker III (moving iron).

    Thanks for your wishes, Tim.

I have recently embarked on a journey to see whether I can improve the sound of my Croft Micro25 RSLS with better quality pots (Khozmo attenuators?) or perhaps even consider its substitution by a passive dual-mono preamp, which should -theoretically- further enhance clarity, transparency and realism. We'll see how things progress from here.
