At the cutting edge of Numptyness!
Today finally saw me fit enough to pick up the soldering iron with intent.
Intent to put my desired Capacitors into the phonostage. I'd been using some JFX caps bought from HiFi Collective. They are very cheap and quite honestly, they are probably the most revealing things I've put in the position. However, they had very little midrange. Something I'm noting a lot recently is the Mid-bass area. I decided to try a firm Favourite of mine. Mundorf EVO aluminium in oil caps.
I've used these a few time now and I am always very happy with their performance. It's a very balanced sound and exactly what I'm looking for.
Had to re locate another cap to fit these monsters in.
Hopefully when they've run in they will be the final little mod I'll be doing to this box.
Not the neatest job by any means but being well and truly inhibited by the soon to be re-broken hand, I am happy it works at all lol
I'll tidy it up when I'm finally better.
Oliver
