My parents thought the world had come to an end in 1965 when they saw The Rolling Stones on TOTP. Even though they'd both lived through WWII, they thought some bloke with long hair prancing about like a tit was a sign of the coming Apocalypse. It's impossible to generalise about children. There are scrotes in every generation; they just seem more annoying when you're old enough to complain about 'kids today'.

A couple of years ago I went past my old grammar school on the way to my sister's. Back in my day (late 60s/early 70s) 'letting out time' was fairly anarchic, with kids pushing, shoving, fighting and swearing as they left the school gates. This lot were all polite, well-mannered, with perfect uniforms and not a hair out of place.

That might've been the official position, but most pubs were pretty lax about it (after all, they wanted the business), especially if the kids concerned looked older for their age (and I did), so I was going to them from about the age of 11.

Nice one, Roy. It's a lovely wee place with some great shops and a really nice chilled-out vibe. Sadly, most of the places where we used to go eat have long since closed, but when Del and I are up there now we usually treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at the Roman Camp: http://www.romancamphotel.co.uk/

If you've ever up that way, and you fancy a treat, it's proper 'old school', with the staff trained in silver service. The food is truly superb, plus there's a lovely bar/lounge to relax in before and after your meal!

Looks good. I'm long overdue a visit to my Cousin who lives in Livingston near Edinburgh, he's always down visiting me on 'business' (which usually translates to one 2 hour meeting in London & 2 days of eating & boozing).

Nice one. If you book in advance, you'll probably get a good deal. Trust me, I think your lady friend would love it!

From a bar in Montrose, was quite a pub crawl, we found one bar selling vodka and coke for a £1!. They were making balloon animals in another bar.
