Aside from world class museums, art galleries, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and architecture London really has absolutely nothing to offer.

I stopped going to British pubs regularly in the 90s. The main reasons were smokers, fruit machines, and overly loud tvs and jukeboxes. Oh, and crappy overpriced beer too!

So did I. I used to make an exception for Waxy O'Connors just off Leicester Square in London town. I haven't been into London for a long while now so I don't know if it's still the same, but I don't see why it shouldn't be. It had all of the attributes listed above, and more. The crock of mussels in white wine sauce was exceptional and the staff were great.

Oh sorry - Piggurs, is that me? Quite like that.

It seems that although our backgrounds are quite different, we share the same views on a lot of this stuff. More than one road going to the same place.

The difference is that you're probably more inclined to meet things head on, while I, being a bit more of a shrinking violet, am more likely to just take the piss out of it from a safe distance.

Yes, we stopped for a few drinks there, I remember thinking it would be a great place to spend Xmas or Hogmanay.

Nick Nairn has his cook school near there, we had a look round his shop, the prices were 'imaginative'
