I don't know anybody living here who tours those 'cultural' places. They may have done so as kids or taken their kids there, but that's all. For a start, unless you are loaded, London offers little. Prices for anything are loony! And of course, if you look loaded, the crims will be watching you for a chance to hi-jack your car or rob you.

Lol - never said that, but it's still not really my kind of place - the sheer busyness and overcrowding puts me off. I'm not really a city person. I prefer somewhere I can RELAX and chill, and also breathe in some lovely fresh mountain air

Now, just imagine sitting across from Lock Earn, or the Lake of Menteith, on a lovely summer's evening, enjoying the stunning view, whilst sipping a fine single-malt whisky. No noise, no hustle and bustle, just you (and/or your partner) and the sound of nature... Bliss!!

DON"T GO. It's grossly overrated (and overpriced). You'll get a far better meal at the likes of the Roman Camp, for a fraction of the price!

I also prefer that to London. Unless I want one of the things London has to offer. I wouldn't want to live there, though.

Our local station is only about half an hour from Liverpool Street but we rarely go into town for a night out, maybe just the odd theatre visit for a matinee, it's just too busy/manic for me. If we eat we'll find somewhere that accepts the 'taste' card where we can eat for half price.

Last time I ate in central London was at some Italian place, Friday night but it was early so it wasn't that busy. If I lived out in the sticks like you I wouldn't bother going all that way to eat or drink. But there is all the other stuff there too.
