Find it hard to fault my TD124 MkII especially since the motor was rebuilt by Martin Basin, and the Schopper platter and bearing added. (One of the few upgrades of any sort that i've considered an unequivocal no-brainer). Oh and the Ikeda arms (IT407 12in and IT345 9in). And a 50kg layered birch plinth by Russ Collinson. On Townshend Seismic Pods to match. Ideal platform for any cartridge, SUT, phono preamp ...

The 124 especially the rebuilt schopper variant is my fav in the world of idlers while there are many great decks out there the 124 does make lovely music.

I agree - having compared to the 301 and the 401, this is my favorite too. Also the owner sold off his Brinkmann LaGrange and SME 30/2 for the Schopper, he previously owned the Grandezza arm as well, now running Schopper with FR 64s, SPU, Zyx UNi II, and Brinkman 10.5

As you know with hifi know one agrees I know a few thorens 124 owners who changed for a Brinkman and also a sme all very complicated but the 124 is a lovely turntable

Still love my Oxford Crystal Reference (wall mounted) definitely a step up from my previous Linn Sondek I owned. Always loved the look of Michell Orb & Gyrodecks. One of the nicest Ihave heard was a Lumley Stratosphere
