i was more than happy with my pioneer plc-590/pa-5000 tonearm.

that is until i spotted a sony tts-8000

i have it going through a paradise phono stage and for me its end game now,the pioneer just sits sadly in the corner unused which is a shame as its a great tt in its own right,it may be for sale in the new year.

An early Verdier Platine with the composite base; after the granito and before the MDF. If you defeat the suspension you can mount the motor close to the platter. I had purpose made feet but you can use some wood blocks to see if it works for you. The motor is battery driven. The composite and granito bases are drilled for one arm, whilst the mdf base can cope with two. It is similar to Charlie's but with upgraded baring etc. As I noted in a previous thread I have had it for a number of years now and do not see the point in changing it

I genuinely think the TTS-8000 is hard to beat, and I have heard and owned a lot of decks.

Thats defo testimony then. Never heard one but from what I've read and know of them I'm not surprised it's hit the spot.

There are a number of decks that have passed over my 'drool n ponder' radar over the years - Sony PS-8750, TTS-8000, PS-X9, Sansui SR929, Trio Kenwood L07D, Technics SP10....

My highly modded Technics SL1210 MK5g with the Fritz Gyger S re-tipped Cadenza Black is bringing so much pleasure that all 'look over the fence' / 'drool n ponder' has ceased

I think there were more, as I am sure there are a few here in NI, plus a few floor versions here as well.
