    Default My Vintage System

My main and only system is on its analog part fully vintage and mostly from the 60s as you will see.
Nothing has been done to the electronics, although it has been through a thorough inspection about two years ago, all electrolytics were in their original specs.
I am surprised not to see that many American competitors to the Radford or Quad, so here you have some tube era Marantz. Yet some very essential pieces are British.

I do enjoy DIY, so the turntable plinth, the pre amp woodcase and the metal chassis are all handmade.

    That's a very nice setup.

What American contenders to the Radford do you suggest!!

Actually meant competitors, on the cheap: the Dynaco st-70. They are plentiful on the bay. Others: The Fisher, HH Scott, Eico, Acrosound, etc

    Ah! I see.

That Marantz 8B fetches a pretty penny doesn't it!

Your 301 looks magnificent mounted in that plinth Bruno. I had one of these Garrard decks 30 years ago but had it mounted on a metal wall bracket , no plinth with the motor hanging out the bottom. I was a young audiophile then and did not really know what i was doing especially setting up tonearms and cartridges.

    Thank you James.
This 301 I've had for the last ten years.
When I got it as as a heirloom gift, it was fixed to a shoe box type plinth, as it was mounted by the first owner in the 60s. A terrible recipe, but they did not know better at the time. Probably explaining why the did not get much love for a time...
