Sounds wonderful! And, yeah, those Weber bullets are great. I gave ours to father-in-law when we got our kamado ceramic smoker-grill. As terrific as the kamado is, I still miss the Weber. So versatile.

Have a great weekend in your new garden!

    Great work Ben! Lovely, really.
Did you upcycle some materials into this, like planks and such?

Thanks mate, yes mate a lot of the decking and planter planks were upcycled.

I got the pond lined and filled last night so am off to the garden centre to look at pond plants and fish later! I've a solar pump/filter due to be delivered early next week as well.

Filled up the pond last night and am just sitting here admiring it. Bought a couple of oxegenating plants for it whilst out at a garden centre this morning. Can't wait to get a few fish in it now but need the pump / filter first.

looks good... i used to have a big rectangular pond, and even had a waterfall feature, which recycled water, but filled it in and changed to a little country pond, which has now only 1 fish in plus frogs or toads... not sure which.

heres a pic of it when it was looking fairly new.

had to fence it off for grandkids, and never got round to removing it

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

What is the advantage/difference from the Weber BBQ?
I have always fancied a smoker, but never tasted anything from one.

The Smokey mountain we have is v easy to get decent results from, set it up right and it will give you a good few hours stable cooking. You can vary how smokey or not u want your food of course and a lot of the time we just use it as a BBQ without any "smoke" at all.

As Ben says, the bullet is easy to use; kamado equally so. The differences between the two are...

    - Weber costs less
    - Weber weighs about 400lbs less, making it easy to move around; once you set up a kamado, you really won't be moving it much
    - both can go low and slow for smoking or slow roasting; and both can grill at very high heat for a quick sear
    - kamado needs less fussing when doing a long, all-day slow cook (e.g. a 10lb pork shoulder); typically I only need to rake the charcoal once during an 8 hr. cook; Weber needs more supervision and fussing, but no big deal really
    - kamado uses less charcoal; the 1" thick walls really hold the heat; their air control imakes for a very efficient burn
    - kamado is more stable in temp, but more difficult to correct if, say, it's too hot or too cool...those thick walls again; Weber responds faster

If you are inclined to try either a kamado or a Weber, there are entire forums dedicated to getting the most out of them. Read and follow their method guides and you'll have no problems with either.

Let us know if you go for it. Personally, I would never live without one now. Love it!

Hope this helps, but post back if you have more questions.
