Default Magneplanar MG 3.7i Speakers Now On Demo, One Of My Favourites!

    Hi Everyone,

Now this is a blog I have been meaning to write for a few months now but for whatever reason I never seemed to find the time which is crazy really as it is regarding one of my favourite speakers that we have on demo at HFL.

All the products we have in here are pretty awesome to be fair but I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t have a few favourites and when it comes to any Maggie well they are right up their giving something truly different, one of the most natural presentations I have ever heard, obviously for their size they are not going to be for everyone, but if you can accommodate a Maggie I know there would never be any regrets and they really are incredibly good value considering their performance.

So the point of this post? well a few years ago I had a pair of Magneplanar 3.7′s in here and I was absolutely smitten, they really did leave their mark on me, but we just didn’t have the space to put them on permanent demo well the good news is that with our new’ish showrooms we can definitely now easily fit a pair in so one of my fist jobs once the new showrooms were finished was to order a pair of 3.7i’s for permanent demo which we now have here

So if you are a bachelor or have a very understanding wife and really would like to experience something totally different please feel free to come in to listen to the 3.7i’s or alternatively we also have the 1.7i’s and .7′s on permanent demo, I am never happier than when I am doing a Maggie demo

Do you think ones wife needs to be more, or less, understanding to accept the Maneplanars compared to the Wilson Audio speakers you previously had in that room?

I can’t recall you mentioning Brinkmann - is that for another time?

Wilson's really do seem to get a reaction form the better half, I have been really surprised how most really don't like them, whereas with Maggies they are more curious.

I borrowed the Brinkman, still deciding whether to bring them on or not, love the sound, just wondering how much interest they will get really.

I am and I'd love to hear these, been a lover of Quad ESL for awhile, so like something that sounds a bit different to Hi-Fi and more natural. I think I need to come and hear some

    Hi Tim,

Please feel free to come over, if you can accommodate them I would say there is no better at this price point, always pleased to get them out for a demo

    Cheers,

Hi Bev, funny since I used the bachelor line I've had a few girls get in touch, just wish there were more out there into their HiFi

To be fair the 1.7i's are epic and are by far the most popular Maggie, if you ever fancy a listen to them or the 3.7i's just give me a shout.

As you know, I have a pair of 1.7s. Yes, they are great but I wouldn't rule out the 0.7s either. The only downside is that like all Maggies they take a lot of driving!

Seeing those Magneplanars, the opening bars of 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' came to mind!

Hmm... well high end turntables is a funny market and I see it is not one you have much of a foot in (currently). You do SME, though do you actually have any of their turntables on demo? In my experience, buyers of expensive turntables expect you to have a significant commitment - because others do. In addition, if I were you, I don’t think I would be considering Brinkmann. Not that long ago this was a rare product in the UK but as of now there are a number of dealers selling it.... You would be better considering Simon Yorke (for something similar but much less common) or something from the Absolute Sounds portfolio you are already aligned with (TechDas).
