Default Cyrus CDI or Marantz CD6006, or just add a DAC?

I'm currently using a Yamaha BD-S667 BluRay player and think I like to use a cd player for improved sound for cds.

I like the reviews of the Marantz CD6006 and more expensive Cyrus CDI. Can anyone please comment on these players?

Or should I just get a decent DAC and use the Yamaha as a transport? Or course a dac would improve sound for movies too, which we seldom watch.

(I should mention my system is a 2-channel system w/ Mystere IA-11 tube amp and DIY SEAS Froy Mk3 speakers.)

    Thanks!

Hi Mike, the Marantz is a very good player, I had a CD6005 which sounded good anyway but when I teamed it with a decent DAC it really came alive. I believe the CD6006 uses the same transport mechanism so I would be tempted to try one out. I'm afraid I've no experience of the Cyrus so I can't say if it is any better than the Marantz.

If that's the case maybe it would be better to add a dac to my Yamaha instead, wouldn't you say?

Definitely worth trying and you'll have a DAC to use if you upgrade to a different player or transport later.
