    Default Bottling it!

    Hi Valve gurus...help required please.
Can anyone suggest alternatives to the Chinese 6H3n currently being used in my dac output stage.
I haven't got a problem with it but I am aware that there are always options in the deep, dark, mysterious world of tubes.
    Cheers

Is it the same as the 6N3 valve?

    It looks to be a 2c51 / 5670 equivalent,

In which case it's the valve in the XiangSheng DAC-01A (amongst others, I'm sure).
In which case, the Western Electric 396A tube is a superb drop in replacement!

I was hoping it was Jerry, after your very enthusiastic recommendation on the Xiang Sheng 01A thread.
    It's for the 05A.

I'd love to hear an 05A!

The WE 396A was Justin's (User211) discovery. And he was spot on!

    There you go.
Strangely they only seem to be available from the USA.
I don't think you'll find a price much better than that, either. Postage is expensive, do you have a mate in the USA who could send it on to you? That might save a few £.

    Cheers guys.
Would really appreciate any advice on the suitability of replacements first though.

Hi Richard, firstly the 6H3n is Russian crylic text and equates to 6N3P (not a 6N3).

This is equivalent to a 2C51, 396A or 6CC42. All the specs are very similar so you shouldn't have any trouble.

Tesla 6CC42 are available on ebay from the Ukraine, might be worth a shot.

Many thanks Alan. In your opinion do you feel the Teslas would improve on the standard ones I currently have. I can't supply any further info as to open the box I will then invalidate the guarantee (stickers over the screws) but I assume they are 'standard' Chinese ones.
