I would argue that the learning of table manners over the past few hundred years has only been an issue for about 1% of the population, while the rest of us were more concerned with finding something to put on the table (eeh, I used to dream of having a table) and our manners only extended as far as sharing what we had with our families.
Fully agree with the technology thing though - the changes continue apace while our ability to use it wisely and considerately lags way behind. And the nature of the technology is such that the wrong 'uns can pretty much do as they please with next to no accountability. This needs to be addressed now, and the culprits punished.
That being said, I feel that stifling people's opinions on certain matters smacks of censorship, which I never find agreeable. I would prefer that people could speak freely, but with sanctions against those that would abuse this privilege. You can probably guess that mine was a 'no' vote.
