If at the end there is a strong swing towards 'Yes' or "No', then whatever has the most votes will determine the outcome.

    Marco.
That seems very reasonable, Marco. Like others, I don't participate in political discussions on this forum (or any other, for that matter), but I do feel strongly enough about the undue negative influence of small minorities of people who spoil something for everyone else, that I feel compelled to comment here. There's just far too much of that kind of thing going on these days, all over the world, and I really wouldn't like to see it happening here.

    Best,
    Svend

'Listen to a Whig, or to a Tory, and you will suppose that the great bulk of society range under his banner; all, at least, who have any property at stake. Listen to a Radical, and you will suppose that all are marshalled with himself, unless those who have some private interest in existing abuses, or who have aristocratic privileges to defend. Yet, going into society as it is, you will find that a vast majority of good citizens are of no party whatsoever, own no party designation, care for no party interest, but carry their good wishes to men of every party, according to the momentary purpose they are pursuing'

What a wise man. Imagine what he could have accomplished if he had not been off his tits on opium half the time. He could have written books and stuff.

I'm struggling to decipher the 'Olde English' (which is why I hate Shakespeare, as no-one talks or writes that way these days, and so to me mostly comes across as gobbldygook), to understand what the full quote means. For example:

"Listen to a Radical, and you will suppose that all are marshalled with himself"... What's that supposed to mean?

That radicals think that the 'silent majority' agree with them but are just to scared to say it.
