maribor have been an irritant to scottish sides for a long time and were unbeaten since, ironically we humped them out way back in 2001, so it will be a feather in his cap if he gets the desired result next week.

Well, if true, that would certainly make a big difference! The thing about this game, is that Celtic won't play it in the same way as, say, they would an away fixture in the group stages of the CL proper, where the accent would always be on caution.
*This* is a genuine, full-blown cup tie, and Celtic's undoubtedly most important game of he season, so although they won't go 'gung-ho' to start with, if the score remains the same as it currently stands, by the end of the 1st half, or if Celtic should go behind at that stage, then in the second-half (or at least for certain the last 30 mins), they'll throw everything at it, as they'll have nothing to lose - and in that respect, Dembele could make all the difference!
I also hear that Arzani is defo on his way from Man City, but it'll be too soon for him yet to make a difference to our European campaign.
Going back to the forthcoming AEK Athens tie, it wouldn't surprise me that even though tomorrow's game is a big one against Hearts at Tynecastle, Rodgers rests a few key first team players, simply to keep them fresh and injury-free for Tuesday night's game, which is so vitally important. That's certainly what I'd be doing if I were him, especially as Hearts will be physical as usual.
Quite simply at this stage in the season, beating AEK and getting through to the playoff round of the CL qualifiers is more important than securing 3 points against Hearts, although no doubt we'll be trying very hard for both!

Regarding what we've just discussed, if Isaguirre is fully fit (see following link), I'd expect him to come in and take the place of Tierney, as he's played for us for years and knows exactly what he's doing, good player, too: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45136402
Tierney is defo one I'd rest, as he was OUTSTANDING on Wednesday against AEK, and will be one of our best chances over there for creating, or even scoring, a goal!
I'd also rest Ntcham and Edouard, give Scott Allan a go, and play Griffiths up front on his own, or perhaps alongside Ryan Christie. Possibly also bring Hayes in. Give Hearts something different to think about.
