I wasn't aware that there was any British football.
The last time there was any attempt to have British involvement in a football tournament the respective FAs (well all bar the English FA) pissed on the idea

Interesting piece today about the Premier League, and how many clubs would turn a healthy profit without all the tedium of having to have supporters involved with things such as attending games

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888

More interesting (and quoted from the article) is that five clubs at the top of the pile couldn't turn a profit without match day revenues

None of the Premier League's top five money makers - Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea - would have made a profit without matchday incomes being included.

So what do you call it then when referring to a footballer who's so far spent most of his career playing in the UK [England and Scotland], such as Boyata? UK football?

Interesting link, which also highlights what's wrong with today's game and that TV revenue has taken it over, when it *should* be all about the fans!

If you'd put down "a footballer who's so far spent most of his career playing in the UK" then I wouldn't have responded, because that is correct.

There is no British football, for the reasons outlined.
There should be, for occasions such as the Olympics, as the countries that constitute the UK compete there as Team GB.
Three of the FAs disagree with me.

And before anyone here starts to go off on one about football not being an Olympic sport, try telling that to Lionel Messi, Pablo Zabaleta, Sergio Aguero, and a host of other Argentine players - they all have Olympic Gold medals for football.

As for the article - I just found it intriguing that so many clubs would be better off not having supporters turning up.

Alas Celtics defence failed them good try but with ousward out and dembele only able 25 mins it was going to be tough.
Couple of centre half a and a right back needed I think

    Hard luck Marco

Watched most of the game, let down by poor defending, looks like the biscuit tin has cost them

Dunno the reason why no quality cover was got in but guessing the couldn't get the right guy for right money.
Boyata's attitude irrelevant of the rights and wrongs of his case has possibly cost them a lot of money.
He of course is likely now not going to play again.

It was interesting that Boyata was saying he was injured but the manager was saying he was fit in the interviews before the game, although I was getting really fed up listening to Chris Sutton saying he was unfit to wear the shirt every 5 minutes

I dunno - if Celtic have spent £2m on disco lights for CL games then he does have a fair point.
They should have put the £2m towards sorting out their defence.

The goals they conceded last night were really soft, and they weren't exactly being pressed when they conceded.
They need some defenders that don't stand there ball watching.
