Some of those signs at airports are there for a reason, due to fuel vapour etc.

My daughter went to vaping and quit smoking, and eventually quit vaping after 2 years or so. I think it is an amazing way for people to ease off tobacco. It works exactly like a smoke machine they use at light shows. So there is plenty of evidence that it’s not harmful. And, no butts on the ground.

But here in the US many states are passing laws against vaping! More of that, “For your own good”, bullcrap. “It has nicotine and that’s a drug, blah blah”, As long as cigs are for sale over the counter, who cares? They are probably just wanting to tax it, to make up for all the taxes they loose when people stop smoking. To screw with the number one method people are using to stop smoking is just wrong, with no studies, or data, they just act on fear mongering nonsense.

Well yes but I'm not airside when I'm doing it and you don't often see them stockpiling kerosene on the pavement outside the entrance to the terminal. (Well, maybe in France).

Kerosene is hardly going to burst into flames with somebody having a fag nearby anyway. If you drop a lit match into some, it will just extinguish the match.

Vaping is classed as a nicotine product in the UK as well Russell, so effectively banned in all places where cigs are banned - don't look to be any change to that over here either .... despite the Health Services promoting vaping as a effective cessation method

Would have thought the vapours (from refuelling, etc) would be liable? ... but must admit I've never really given it any thought, not places I visit often...

sure the vapors can explode but you would need to be quite close to a lot of the stuff. i few hundred yards away is fine...a few thousand as you will be outside a teminal is nonsense; its as macca says to put the bad people out of eyesight of good people

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Never seems to stop the RAF pilots in old war films, they've always got a fag or a pipe on the go.

If we'd had health and safety and the nanny state back then we'd all be speaking German now.
