    Default England vs. Belgium

Ok, let's get back to the football now. So.... I hear that England have made 8 changes from their starting line up against Panama, including Vardy and Rashford up front! So what's the score gonna be?

Belgium have made wholesale changes too, but I still think England will win, so I'll go 2-1

Today is our day of reckoning. If we can beat Belgium and not concede a weak goal, then I’m happy.

It's a non-game. I say one nil, could be either way. No-one is going to want to get injured or carded, the result doesn't matter, we're not going to see either team play all-out.

I know where you're coming from, but for me there should be no "non-game" whenever you pull on the shirt of your country! And I don't think any of the players tonight, from either team, will see it as a non-game.

They'll want to be careful, in terms of bookings and injuries, but I'm still expecting a competitive match, with both teams trying to win it, and also the group, simply to keep their momentum going. I also think that England would stand a far better chance of beating Japan, in the round of 16, than Columbia.

Yes I'd rather get Japan. But they are a feisty team with some skill and a lot of commitment. No easy games from here on in.

Dirty play from the continental side! Makes me nostalgic for the 1970s.

Opinion polls have consistently reflected the 10 point gap in the referendum result or have widened in favour of the status quo, eg June Yougov, 51 vs 38 gap shows it's widened by three points. Only the odd outlying poll has shown a narrowing and no credible one has shown a majority for secession.

I'm with you on the resentment of areas outside the London and the South East I was many years in Somerset before moving to Berkshire and it's clear that the SE sucks all of the investment capital and stuff like HS2 (and now Heathrow Expansion), however they are sold to Joe Public, end up being yet another tentacle of the vampire squid that is London. But London is not England, indeed, increasingly so on all sorts of measures.

Don't even know how I ended up posting on this topic, I don't have a TV and I haven't seen any of the World Cup matches, I don't have any interest in football really.

Well, disappointing, but it doesn't really count. They had the best of us in the second half, no question. Hopefully get some pointers and lessons for the next one from that.
