    Default Radford STA 25 MK 4 vs V2, V3 and V5 versions

    Hello,

I'm interested in Radford valve amplifier STA 25 Mk4. I'm intending to use it with Tannoy Turnberry SE. How does compare version STA Mk4, produced in 1984-85 with old or new units? Another question -which preamp is good combination with STA 25?

I have both STA 25 mk3 and mk5 here and indeed intend to compare tomorrow evening with Edward of this parish...
    we will post findings.
Personally, I have heard both back to back (without actually doing a comparison) and I honestly did not notice any real difference.

I've heard the Croft pre-amps, e.g. Micro 25, recommended here for the Radford STA series.

Yep I went down that route and should really be considered a starting point. Try and get one of the older amps is possible like an epoch or something similar. My croft/Radford combo only really started to work when i got the epoch/sondeX s100 combo. Now I'm set for life.
