That's a pity but thanks anyway.

    New toy day!

It’s been a 12 year wait to find one, but I reviewed it back at Hi-Fi World and it’s one of the finest phono stages I’ve ever heard. Very happy!

    Adam’s handy service tip No.27:

Spending money on high quality jigs and tools makes the life of a turntable fettler much easier.

Today’s fun on the Beobench - a friend’s Bose AV3-2-1 system (yes - I know, I know. I’m sorry!) Wouldn’t read DVDs or CDs so obviously the drive, which is an old Toshiba computer DVD-ROM drive.

They’re long discontinued, rare and expensive now but……wait. One on eBay for a tenner!

Well, I bought it and fitted it but no go, however the seller swore it worked, so I swapped the laser from the new to the old and bingo - back to life.

Great thread! I love vintage gear, especially Yamaha gear. In fact, I wish they would come back with those large acrylic backlit buttons again.
