Bit of surgery on my lovely Yamaha A.960II tonight to replace the broken bass and treble sliders. Finding replacements required paying £60 for a pair from a breaker unit in the USA and I still had to rebuild one of them before I could fit it!

Indeed. Unfortunately it was before the era when Japanese manufacturers got their acts together in terms of ease of assembly and service - the amount of stuff I had to take out/disconnect/move to get at the tone PCBs was quite something.
In fact I’ve got a horrible feeling I forgot to re-connect the volume control PCB when I reassembled it...
