    Tweeter tests ok when disconnected of course ( 8 ohms ) but when I put the tester on the tweeter connections on the crossover it reads 01.7 ohms ?

    Cap probably.

    Don't use the speakers like this. You could blow your amp.

    If the Peerless tweeters are sounding Ok, I'd stick with them. They'll be better than the DT3, Philips or SEAS.
