I'm gone.
No, it doesn't appear helpful - but in this case the maths is counter-intuitive - what happens between the gaps, for example?
Well, mathematically, below the "Nyquist frequency", there aren't any gaps - but you can tell people that till the cows come home but unless they have at least some grasp of the math they go with their flawed intuition.

Yeah, I must ask you to re-write/rephrase your post (#19), Patrick, as that's not how we respond to each other here. Everyone (and their opinions) must be treated with tolerance and respect, at all times, no matter how much you disagree with them.
Also, don't presume everyone will want, far less know how, to "understand the maths". I really don't like your rather arrogant and ill-tempered tone on this thread, so please alter it to something friendlier. Cheers!
Marco.

True and that is why some argue that higher sampling rates are needed. I was trying not to overcomplicate things because some have measured audio signals (at a low level) above 40 kHz which emphasises the need for 96 kHz or 192 kHz for some studio headroom. However, the levels are low and some argue removing them does not impact the music that much. The advantage of understanding the maths is that it is precise and explains it clearly but for those not keen it may have to be accepted that if the audio is limited to 22kHz and is then sampled at 44 kHz then all the frequencies up to 22kHz can be accurately re-constructed.

Not posting on these threads isn't really a proper solution though, is it? Why not simply alter your attitude and be nicer to people?
That would be a good start. I haven't even read the main content of this thread, simply your rude response highlighted, which regardless of who's right or wrong, in terms of the thread topic, there was simply no need for.
Do you address people that way in real life, Patrick - and if so, what type of response would you expect to receive in return? In this instance, it's not what you say, but HOW you say it. Regardless of how much of an 'expert' anyone is, no-one knows it all.
