    Well just nabbed a Quad 405 MK1 this morning for £75

    Currently using the Tannoy 615 MK'2s

    Well done! As soon as you are able, replace the decidedly inferior LM301 chip with a TL071 or better, upgrade the +/- 12V supply voltage dropping resistors with 1W rated equivalents and fit a couple of decoupling capacitors as close as possible to the chip supply pins. It will all make for an enormous improvement in SQ.

    Here you go Dan, even simpler. Try one of these, world's cheapest passive pre-amp. Works just fine and sounds very good. I've got one.

    I didn't pay any. I've not paid charges on anything from China recently, although my purchases have been under thirty quid.

    You'll have to wait for it though, usually about three weeks.

    For low value items no vat or duties are payable. The threshold for vat is £15 and for duties it is £135.

    I've found that often HMRC don't bother with items marginally over the thresholds. YMMV
