Speak to Wembley Speakers. They will probably have suitable surrounds available and can fit them.

The ALS40 are good fun. Very fruity bottom end, you should be able to shake the house quite nicely with those.

    Very carefully!

Seriously, if the cones move back and forth freely without the coils rubbing, don't worry about shimming as the rear spiders are still concentric to the magnet gap.

Just clean the old foam off the chassis and cone carefully. Probably best just scraped off with a craft knife or similar.

Bond the new surrounds evenly to the cones first as you can then move them around a bit on the chassis lip to centralise them. If you're not sure about positioning, hold them in place with a few blobs of BluTak until you're happy, then tack glue them in three equally spaced positions, allow to dry then bond the rest. Use a small art brush to apply adhesive. Most seem to use water based PVA, I prefer Aleene's Tacky Glue, also water based.

    Default Question...

    Thanks Geoff

Does the O ring need to come off to glue the foam to the chassis on the out edge...?

Yes. I take it you mean the trim ring. Remove it by slipping a blade under it and separating it gently from the chassis rim. Clean it carefully for re-use. It's probably fairly fragile.
