Although these have 15" woofers. Andy wasn't keen on them but I think with a change of tweeter they might be half decent. Are there any known drop in replacements for the infamous purple tweeters?

    Back to the SL6's

First impressions were rather dull with the Technics 909 pre and Power but feed them a smidge of current and they came alive with believe it or not the NAD 3020 they are special in the dynamics fantastic

Set them up with the Onkyo Integra A 810 Watts is a myth current is key with these sounding good but the Nad is still winning at the moment - looking out for an Audiolab 8000A plenty of choice on the bay watch this space

Watch this space for more updates and findings they are keepers for sure -

Nothing wrong with the tweeters at all. This is one driver where some judicious crossover component upgrades really do make a difference.

Glad you’re liking them. Dan. Definitely ‘Marmite’ speakers!

Oh dear appears one of the SL6 cones is rubbing upon further testing only driven them low so back to the seller see what he says lets just say they were not cheap and described as fully functional not impressed granted yes they are 40 odd years old but still

    That's a shame Dan.

I went to buy some speakers once, thirty odd years ago, so I can't recall what they were.

The bloke played me some awful synthy stuff, all top end, and says to me 'I think they sound pretty good.'

I spied a copy of Eagles 'Greatest Hits' and asked 'Would you put that on?' He ummed and ahhed and was really reluctant but in the end he did. Right from the off it was obvious that the bass coil was rubbing badly on both units. He was a bit embarrassed at being caught out.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.
