I'm finding the TD 166 to be rather good too although not a top rated Thorens it does them job original TP 11 tonearm

Haven't they undergone a bit of a renaissance recently? I've seen a few people saying online they're a very underrated speaker.

Amp fussy they love a clean signal warm and mellow amps not so good

Interesting an award winner speakers in 1996 one of the best buys @ £200 had a couple of pairs before i didn't rate them much then but now very respectable indeed my grandad had a pair in the late 90s before he passed must have only just bought them then i remember them with a Marantz 1010 slimline stack , graphic & Tuner , CD / Tape combo pretty penny back then Knew his stuff sad i was to young to properly know him with his journey of Kit

I got mine in 1998, I remember as it was not long after I moved into this house and needed something with a bit more wallop than Mission 731s

No idea where I found £200 to buy them, I think that was almost two weeks wages for me back then.

The 602 are even better but the 603 floorstander I recall being a bit lumpy.
