The 507x matches them very well indeed - a rare bit of kit fully serviced

    More experimenting to come -

So the 1981 HI FI Year states the Chester's new were £300 - a hefty some back then - Inflation that's £1,176.00 in 2010

or in hi-fi inflation more like four grand...

They look ace. I like the look of the Lux too. Classic combination.

Well a little bit of fun purchased a £20 Little Bear "Nobsound" P5 1 - Passive Pre , Buffer for some fun the question is its a 100K ohm Impendence so which power amplifier could be suitable - Quad 405 , Linn LK 85 or Technics SE A909S

    Thoughts?

    Many Thanks

Is that the one that has RCA and XLR in and out? I'm not sure it's genuine balanced but have heard good things for the money.

Edit: just saw you said buffer do I guess not, does this have pair of little valves? You want to upgrade them to equivalent Russian types to hear it at its best and they only cost a few quid

    Morning All

Appears my left side tubes need replacing on my LA Audio A30 think they are due for replacement as they must be up to 10,000 hours usage - I have 4 spare Mullard EL 84's - So off to the tech to fit some Mullard EL 84's presuming They will also need to be re biased too another job for the Tech

The joys of Valve kit -

I think this amp is auto-bias mate and yes just swap all L&R channels at the same time, don't really want different brands on each side.

Of course its up to you but I don't think it needs to leave your gaff!

Bang the mullards in and away you go!
