Default Hello from sunny Huddersfield (not...)

    Hi there,

I'm Tony from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. I used to post as Pianoman on Wigwam (not any more) and occasionally on Pink Fish, but I've enjoyed browsing and reading threads here so it was high time I joined in, now as Bass lover - don't ask me why I picked that...! I must say my hifi is pretty ordinary, so it's mainly the classical music section I'm interested in, as Jerry migrated over here form the Wam and we had some good run ins regarding contemporary classical - though I think he's seen a bit of the light..?

Gear is ProAc D15s, 10 plus years old but still sound good; Cyrus amp and now almost exclusively streaming form Spotify or my ripped collection from the MacBook. I've become something of a Headfi addict, so discussions on good cans also interest me.

    thanks

    Tony

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hello Tony. Welcome to AOS.

There's plenty going on here. Much Hi-Fi and music banter.

Just join in the fun and have a chat with folks, it's a friendly place.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
