In a similar vein, I picked up a variety of tubes from Brüel & Kjær when they were closing their UK service centre in Harrow. The good news, not that I realised it at the time, was that the tubes were NOS Telefunkens. As for the best ECC83, I'd rate those Telefunkens as the nicest and most musical tubes that I've tried, but French military RT valves were pretty good too.

The one that sounds best in whatever you want to use it in. Not much of an answer I know lol.
“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

Well, for me it is the Genalex Gold Lion gold pinned version. Not using them currently but have used them in the past and was seriously impressed with their sound.

Not for everyone Andrew as they are nice and bright and breezy but because of that they seem to have a very good rendition of detail.

Telefunken made "The Fisher" were my favourite out of Brimar, Mullard, siemans, and Phillips miniwatt.
