Lol - there's life beyond supermarkets...Fortunately, round here there are plenty of farm shops. Also, we have two large freezers, full of food, not to mention dried food (pasta, rice, etc) and stuff in packets/tins in our larder, stocks of numerous different drinks etc, so could probably survive for a couple of months without going near a supermarket!

Del works in town, and can walk to work in less than 10 mins, and I don't need to go anywhere, if I don't want to, so we'd be just fine

I would have thought so. It is calculated that global average temperatures have risen by 0.8C in the last century. Not a huge amount. Possibly part of a longer term cycle of rising and falling temperatures.

I prefer the term climate change to global warming. The climate has always changed.

I think Climate change can have weird effects on the weather and not always warmer. The jetstream can be disrupted and forced further south which can slow cold air to sink across the country. We may end up with warmer summers and colder winters or just more extreme weather.

Apocalyptic snowfall has failed to materialise.

On the negative side that means I have had to come into work. Everything's a compromise.

It's just stopped snowing now (damn), having given way to bright sunshine and blue skies, leaving a dusting of white fluffy loveliness, about an inch thick - just enough to make things look rather seasonal

I'll take a pic and post it later.
