Cheers, mate.
Here's the puck wot made it:
What do you think? Seems fairly 'text book' to me, although feel free to offer any pointers, as I'm always willing to learn!
The important thing is that I know now that this machine is definitely capable of producing excellent espresso, and great value at just as shade over £300.
TBH, I think the only difference/advantage with much more expensive machines, aside from build quality (and in that respect the Smeg is surprisingly good) and 'counter presence'/show-off factor lol, is higher pressure capability, which enables the creation of denser and thicker crema, although in that respect I know that I can still squeeze out a little some more from this machine, plus a better/more advanced and flexible milk steamer - BUT for an extra cost of thousands!
The milk steaming system though, on the Smeg, is perfectly good enough for my needs, although I have still to fully perfect its use. I'm getting decent results, but still need a bit more practice! In any case, I'd thoroughly recommend the Smeg to anyone in the market for a well-built and specified mid-price coffee machine, who likes the 'retro' look.
Marco.
P.S Last coffee looks good, both pre and post milk!
