More Son House; this time the Alan Lomax Library of Congress Recordings of 41/42. Quality is reasonable for the time and fact it was a field recording.
Accompanying Son were friends Willie Brown, Joe Martin and Leroy Williams. Due to the site's location, you do hear the odd steam train puffing by adds authenticity.
Only recommended for Lovers of the Delta.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

I purchased this one on spec as it looked interesting, a good decision. A great mix of songs, and very well recorded.

Brian - a good find to discover Jamal. He's one of my favourites. Such a distinctive, light and quick touch on the keyboard. Amazing talent. And you are right -- always a positive cheerful mood to his tunes. Makes me smile every time I listen. If you haven't already got them, albums Ahmad's Blues and At the Pershing are excellent, among his many great albums.

    Best,
