    Great album, which I love.

Davis had a habit of putting himself forward and receiving much of the glory. even pinched tunes written by others and claimed them for himself.

    great musician. horrible human being.

Which particular Tunes do you refer to Brian?

Interesting session 'Something' Else', Miles was definitely at the front of this session and rightly so, he was at the top of his game in 58.
Miles talking in the session to RVG is also interesting.

Miles was obviously a very complicated character with issues. Horrible Human being...bit strong.
Genius who never stood still, oh yes.

I think he played his character to the hilt.

maybe thinking of Chuck Wayne's Sonny, being miraculously copied and turned into Solar, bar a single chord change.

Grant, yes solar was one I was thinking of.

Others are tune up, four, dig.

Many of the ideas for “kind of blue “were from bill Evans. In a particular, Evans had been playing around wi5h “blue in green “ for several years.

I’m just doing this fr9m memory, but I think this is corr3ct. Miles was well known to not sell himself short!!!!!

Watch some of the you tube clips of miles being interviewed. In my view he was horrible human being.

Sure there is or was plenty of it going on, sometimes innocently, sometimes maybe not. You hear a bit of music and its maybe not played again, not written down or recorded and several years later you write it and either think or convince yourself its yours.
Maybe should have shared the rights but, its maybe happened to him too.

With so much creative energy in the melting pot, it's inevitable.

A bit of a knob he may have been, but Miles was the man.

IMO it all went wrong when Miles wanted to earn 'big bucks'. His agent told him that to do that he would have to stop playing to small audiences and go after a younger audience. That is why he went electric, abandoned wearing suits and changed to wearing denim; and basically "get down with the kids".

The last recording Miles made that I like is 'Bitches Brew' - but with that I only really play one side: 'Miles Runs the Voodoo Down'.

I heard Miles Davis play in Amsterdam in 1982, and was impressed that, huge ego aside, Miles did not hog the limelight but let all of his fellow musicians have an opportunity to shine.

Dunno if it ever really went 'wrong' for Miles, changes of direction is what kept him fresh and alive. The electric period produced some stellar moments, and some
mundane 3 hour Jams! I can only handle bits and bobs, but he always brought along young exciting musicians with him. kind of what the Messengers band under Silver & Blakey did.

I agree, saw him in 1986 London, and he was very generous with letting others on stage shine.
Great show, not the music I wanted to hear from Miles, but even the Tutu lp had it's moments.
