This may not be new news to some of you, but I was floored when I heard the opening notes to this tune by Horace Silver:
The opening notes are the same as Ricky Don't Lose That Number by Steely Dan. One of the many examples of old inspiring the new.
Great tune by Silver...wonderful piano work on this live recording.

Brad Mehldau and Charlie Haden, live in a cathedral in Mannheim, Germany. Outstanding album, and great recording quality. I will be buying the CD soon.
