Tommy there is not a good example of your average friendly northerner, but that's what Fray Bentos pies does to you. Having said that putting a plate of jellied eels in front of him, or taking him to a pie 'n' mash shop is unlikely to cheer him up. Used to have those on caravan holidays to the Isle of Wight, if you put them in the tiny calor gas oven at 8 in the morning they were barely warm by tea time to have with those horrible tinned potatoes.
I'm sure Tommy ('I'll stop on me own') would love 2 pie, mash & liquor, certainly if you told him the liquor was made from stewed eel juice..
