Shame - it’s a lovely way to fly.
There was a lovely way to fly? I've always found it the most godawful experience it's possible to have, aside from maybe being tortured.

Save yer pennies and treat yourself to a Virgin Atlantic Upper Class flight from Heathrow T3, including 3 hours in the 'Clubhouse'.

Everyone should do this once in their life!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

That's probably (I'm guessing) because you've only ever travelled 'cattle class'... Business class is a totally different ball game

However, I'm not big into flying myself, simply because it's so soulless. Trains are my thing, preferably the vintage variety or something with 'character' [not into the high-speed modern shite]; somewhere cool from which I can sit and enjoy stunning scenery passing by through the window, which is why the likes of the Orient Express appeals so much

Lol... So, for you, what makes Business or 1st Class plane travel: "the most godawful experience it's possible to have"?

Not exactly my thing either (same as boat cruises) - but I could think of MUCH worse!

Security checks (I always get stopped and searched), passport control (always about a million people going through when I'm there, worse now they have those idiotic machines), and the delays (worst I've had was 9 hours). That's before you even get on the damn aircraft.

Then when you are on board it's always freezing cold, you can't smoke, nasty recycled air (worse since they banned smoking), bad food, bad tea (no tea at all on some US internal flights, the bloody savages), babies crying, annoying fat bastards jammed up against you with their fat bloke smell.

Those idiots who are up and down every five minutes even when the seatbelt sign is on, pilots who think they are still landing an F15 on the USS Nimitz in high seas ('Let's just smack that bastard down on the runway!') - causing all the birds aboard to scream in terror, queuing to get off behind knobs who are somehow able to take ten minutes just to get one case out of the overhead, crap selection of TV to watch (ooh! a choice of a Sopranos episode with all the good bits edited out or a documentary on the VW factory in Essen!).

People banging your seat from behind every time they move, waiting 2 hours for your luggage to come through on the carousel, crashing into the sea and dying horribly because the pilots think they are flying too fast when actually they've stalled the bastard and it's dropping out of the sky like a stone.

Is that enough or shall I go on?

Lol... I pretty much agree with all of that (although some of it is negated in Business or 1st Class), which is why [when possible] we travel abroad by car!

*Nothing* beats the freedom it provides of being in near-full control of your journey, totally divorced from the odious behaviour of the 'unwashed masses'
