“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

I've seen it reported that the song has given her over $60m worth of royalties in 25 years. And she has the nerve to say "I don't want a lot for Christmas". She could always give the money to a worthy cause, but the homeless won't be holding their breath.

I've never forgiven her for ruining Nilsson's "Without You" with her stupid face, stupid warbling, and a man-made cleavage you could drive a bus through.
She was a bit of all right back at the height of her powers. But I agree she murders 'Without You.'

Murders it, chops up the corpse in the bath and buries the remains in four different locations.

Harry never saw it coming. She obviously thought "Hey I could do better than that", and a year later poor Harry's heart couldn't cope with hearing it one more time. And I bet she wouldn't have lasted five minutes on Harry's and John Lennon's 'lost weekend'. She'd have got sick of all the "Get them out for the lads" chants, and gone home in a huff with her entourage.

if she had any stairs to climb she'd have been gone even sooner. And best not mention the M&Ms.

    I still would though.

Just listening to the Health Secretary, James Cleverly on Sky News. Usual simplistic obfuscating and blustering, not properly addressing questions at all. Typical Tory politician and clearly not living up to his name!
