“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Of course. She was attractive, and very athletic looking, so she wasn't the sort that women would want their hubbys anywhere near, even with knickers on. And the kids asking questions like "Did I used to live in one of those, mummy?" wouldn't have helped.

Yup, just up - after a very LONG and boozy lunch yesterday! Started at 2pm and ended at 9pm!!

Just all sitting together outside, enjoying the lovely warm weather, chatting, eating and drinking and having a few laughs - what life's all about!

Now I need a nice big cappuccino!!

I'm sat outside having a capucchino myself, but one of the quality ones, from my £39 DeLonghi Dolche Gusto. A bit extravagant I know, but as they say "Quality is remembered, long after the price is forgotten"

Do you do your star jumps on your veranda before or after breakfast? Cause you don't want to be throwing up, the neighbours won't want to see that.

Perhaps we should start our own thread: Bev and Steve's Baristas on a Budget with possible future Bum pictures when Balmy...I know the title's a bit wordy but it should knock those snobs off Abstract Chat's top spot.
