My health is more important to me than the freedom of others. If that's inconvenient, tough!

It's not a case of it being inconvenient, Geoff. It's a case of if we don't get the economy moving again soon, and take (careful) steps towards returning our society as close as possible to normal, then none of us will have much of a 'life' left to lead!

Yes, the latest 3 wk period ends in a few days time as has been stated in the media. We then should get the plan, but think it will be steady as she goes and hugely based on S/D.
Somewhere like the tube will be hugely difficult of course ( and not for me ) to carry out in practise. We will rely on peeps being sensible and self aware when going about there daily regime.
Hmm, not overly optimistic myself on that one. But we live in hope !

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Yup, I agree with you and Brian - baby steps for sure, but steps that are actually evident of having being taken

I just think that what we have to guard against, not just now, but in 6 or even 12 months time. or more, is not becoming prisoners in our own homes, out of sheer fear of catching the virus. Instead, we have to take sensible precautions to protect ourselves and learn *how to live alongside Covid-19*, in the way we do with many other viruses.

Essentially, somehow, *someway*, LIFE, in the true sense of the word (not merely the depressing existence of a recluse, most of us are currently conducting), MUST be allowed to continue....!

As always, it will be about money. At the first opportunity, the economy (and everything else) will leap into action. Sure some businesses may have lost too much revenue and probably capital to recover, but there will be competitors itching to fill their shoes.

If it happens too early though, we'll just end up back at square one with the virus! Not that the big employers would give a toss.

Indeed, which is why ALL decisions going forward (both health-related and economic) need to be *very carefully* considered - but I want to see some tangible evidence soon of that ball starting to roll....!!

I agree. It's settled then. Four new Bank Holidays in October and one in June. I'll give Boris a bell later on.
