Haha - aye, and a very PROUD "alien", too!! As no doubt will be many thousands of others... What about OAPs - I wonder how many who like(d) going to the pub for a pint will be ordering their drinks that way? What happens when the Wi-Fi goes down?

Nah, when/if I go back to pubs, I'll stick to the small, family run places that still promote the use of SPEECH - you know the tongue you've got in your head, which you used to use to TALK to people? And where I feel like I'm in a normal space, not an extra in some sci-fi disaster movie!

Here's another one: If you have to book your place online, be there at a certain time, and pay for your drinks with a card, there'll be all this information about where you are at a given time, what you're drinking and how much
Exactly. Why do you think they're doing it? Covid is simply being used by the authorities as an excuse to spy on us more and monitor our movements and behaviour, with the aim of imposing control. It's more about surveillance than anything else, and anyone who can't see that is blind. It'll certainly be easier for Police to catch drink drivers from now on, though!

The interesting thing, however, will be seeing how long these measures [ultimately loss of our freedoms] remain in place and become the 'new normal' once this pandemic is over, and there's no reason for the virus to continue controlling our lives.... *THAT* is when you'll see the REAL purpose behind them in the long term!!

I've read a number of articles about the pubs re-opening and there isn't one of them that mentions that you will have to order drinks via a smartphone. Although in some places you will be able to if you want to. So this is just a total non-story.

It's not a non-story, because *some* pubs will be operating that system; indeed I've just watched the news detailing three of them who will be doing so and watching how it will work!

    1) You have to book a 'slot' in advance (max 2 hours), and when making the booking provide all your details (name address, mobile phone number, etc).

    2) When you arrive, have those details checked by staff, by providing ID, then join the queue waiting to be seated, as it's table service only.

    3) Then you use the app concerned to order your drinks (from a list provided) and wait for someone to bring them over.

These are FACTS in some pubs now, mate. However, no doubt that not every pub will adopt the app thing, but it'll be interesting to see how many do, and whether that system becomes the 'new normal', if both the government and the pubs themselves like it once they get used to it...

One thing's for sure, the days of being able simply to 'pop in for a pint', when the mood takes you, are gone for the foreseeable future! And no way do I want to have to make a fucking appointment, just to have a drink!

I wear one under my dirty grey mac. Goes well with the imitation hush puppies.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
