Been using a laptop for the last few days, as I've been away from home.

So far so good, but today I simply could not log on at all. Kept on getting error messages in 'computer speak', none of which I really understood. Switched off and then on again; same problem but a different set of messages and different advice. Tried five times before giving up and thinking I would have to get the device repaired/replaced - but my partner would have none of it. With an admirable and casual insouciance she had a go and logged on straight away without problem!

Perhaps it should be me who should be repaired/replaced?

there have been some updates on go so it may have been those that caused the impotence of the laptop, as its not in daily use.

Nah, I think Barry mk.1 is working just fine, just needs the occasional reboot from your partner. And the T. Rex appreciation filter needs resetting.

And instead of promoting gun controls, some bright spark says the teachers should be armed. Bonkers!

In my view that is the only solution. Even assuming they could change the Constitution who is going to go around and disarm millions of people? Genie is long since out of the bottle.

"Conspiracy theories are only perpetuated because people go looking for them!"

Copied from Geoff's signature. I had forgotten about the disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines MH370 until I saw that there is a new documentary coming on CH5. When trying to find details of when it is on I came across tons of stuff about the many conspiracy theories as to what may have happened to the plane and why. I find them fascinating as you just never know if any them could be true. There were many about 9/11 and some of them seemed quite plausible....to me anyway.

I think it suffered an explosive decompression, passengers and crew lost consciousness, plane continued on autopilot until it ran out of fuel. It's happened before more than once.

Course change was due to the pilots' intention to make an emergency landing prior to them losing consciousness. Communications and transponders were damaged in the depressurisation event so they could not signal their intent to anyone on the ground. That's also happened before.
