Lovin' ya retro phone, Macca! It looks a bit complicated to use, though....
Quite right. That's why I'd never give up our landline. Aside from anything else about networks, it's so easy to forget to charge a mobile phone, and if you're using it all the time (especially performing tasks that drain the battery), it's difficult to maintain a constant high level of charge, unless you're very vigilant. Plus also easy to misplace the charger. And you may only have the one mobile phone.
Therefore, unless you're careful, it wouldn't be difficult for one day, especially if you live on your own, to need the phone for a GENUINE (possibly life-threatening) emergency, and discover that the battery is nearly flat and you can't find the charger! Don't dismiss such a scenario, as it could easily happen...
So no, for that reason, and also the fact that you often lose signal with mobile phones when you're talking to someone at home, and have to wander around to escape black spots, plus voices sound so thin and tinny that everyone sounds like robots [landline handsets are generally much clearer], we'll always have a landline.
The biro thing is really funny, and typically *you*!
Me? I'd have replaced it as soon as it was faulty!
Marco.
