I've always been a sound (and long) sleeper. In that respect, I've not changed since I was a kid. As soon as my head hits the pillow, that's me out like a light, for the very minimum, 8 hours.
Quite often, the only thing that wakes me, is needing to go for a pish (although in that respect I don't *yet* suffer from 'old man syndrome', and wake up in the early hours of the morning)!
If I don't drink a lot of fluids before going to bed, I can sleep right through, no problem. Lots of sleep [along with a lack of stress] is one of the things that help keep you looking young! I'm also partial to the occasional afternoon nap.

I have no problem getting to sleep - I get through probably 5 or 6 pages of whatever book I'm on before it falls onto the floor (or Mrs P's head!) and that's me till 6.30. I think I just don't need a long sleep.

Lol.... We don't have a telly in ours either, although I'm not anti the notion. It's simply how things have turned out. Besides, there are other things to do in the bedroom apart from watching TV or sleeping, and I don't mean sniffing your farts under the duvet
I don't need anything to help me go to sleep, including reading books. I simply go to bed when I'm tired, such as now, and then blissfully fall into the land of nod!

My problem with sleep is pain. I had an operation 3 years ago and it never healed properly, no fault of the surgeon just one of those things but it has started getting quite painful recently. I do take pain killers but they often don't hit the spot. I'm going back into hospital next month to have things put right so hopefully that will be an end to it.
